Announcements for January 17, 2025

Posted Date: 1/17/25 (7:12 PM)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

Happy Friday! It was a busy week with our Community Café, concerts and exciting athletic events, including our ice hockey team who participated in the Going Gold Griffin’s Guardians Hockey Game last night. The annual game raises money to support local children who are battling cancer. The Bees wore a special yellow ribbon sticker on their helmets to support Parker Wears #66. Parker, a Ray Middle School student, plays for Lysander and is currently fighting his own cancer battle. “This was more than a game!” Fight and win! Go Bees!

We have a three-day weekend to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday. Our schools and district offices will be closed for the holiday.

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

  • Congratulations to the 32 C.W. Baker High School students and one Durgee Junior High School student won 53 CNY Scholastic Art Awards in the 2025 competition. Congratulations, Bees! You can view the amazing artwork on our website. If you'd like to see their work in person, it will be on display at the Whitney Building on the Onondaga Community College Campus until February 28. The building is open to browse from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and on the weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • January calendar reminders:

    • There is no school for students and district offices are closed on Monday, January 20th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

    • The second marking period ends Friday, January 24th.

    • There is no school for students on Wednesday, January 29th.

    • Report cards will be available in the Parent Portal (SchoolTool) on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Please continue to check ParentSquare, your email and our website at www.bville.org, for important updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Have a great 3-day weekend! Go Bees!

Sincerely,

Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri
