Our Community – A Great Place to Live and Learn

The Baldwinsville Central School District lies about 10 miles northwest of Syracuse. The district is the third largest suburban public school system in Onondaga County, covering approximately 75 square miles and serving about 5,500 students in eight buildings. The district has five elementary schools (PreK-5), one middle school (grades 6 & 7), one junior high (grades 8 & 9), and one high school (grades 10-12). 

 About 1000 instructional and support staff work for the district. A wide range of programs and services are offered, including Advanced Placement courses, college level courses, cutting edge technology, a widely respected special education program, and numerous extracurricular activities.

Focus on Achievement

  • Our graduation rate increased by 3 percent from 2022 to 2023. At 96 percent, we have one of the highest graduation rates in Onondaga County.
  • Baker High School’s “Project Lead the Way” engineering sequence is certified by the Rochester Institute of Technology, an honor that allows students to be eligible for college credit. 
  • Baker High School offers a business finance strand and a business marketing strand as career and technical education programs. Students who complete a program may receive the CTE seal of endorsement on their diplomas. 
  • The district is a NAMM Best Communities for Music Education designee for 16 consecutive years - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025
  • The Baldwinsville Marching Band performed in the 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This was the first appearance of a Central New York school marching band in the parade.
  • The Baldwinsville Marching Band performed in the 131st Rose Parade, on January 1, 2020.

Highlights from 2024-2025:

We had numerous students honored for their academic, musical, artistic and athletic achievements, including but not limited to the following achievements:

  • 11 students inducted into the National Technical Honor Society
  • 89 students inducted into the National Honor Society
  • 150 students inducted into the National Junior Honor Society
  • 8 students inducted into the German National Honor Society of Baldwinsville
  • 4 students selected for the 2024 NYSSMA All-State Performing Ensemble. 4 students selected as alternates. 
  • 9 students selected for the 2024 Junior High Area All-State Festival
  • The 2024 Marching Bees placed second in the very competitive National Class at the New York State Field Band Conference Championships. The band earned a score of 95.6, which was the second highest in the entire state. They also received awards for high visual and high overall general effect!
  • 1 National Merit Scholarship Finalist
  • 2 Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship program
  • 26 students won 53 Scholastic Art Awards
  • 1 Scholastic National Gold Medal winner
  • 11 students won 16 Scholastic Writing Awards
  • 3 students selected as delegates for the Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PR/HYLI). 
  • 2 Section III team titles
  • 14 Section III individual titles
  • 34 NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team Awards 
  • Indoor Drumline won the gold medal and the first place score at the New York Percussion Circuit Championship.
  • Varsity Color Guard team was voted the 2025 “Fan Favorite” and was the recipient of the Robert Morse Award for most improved group at the Mid York Color Guard Circuit Championships. The Junior Varsity Color Guard team was also voted “Fan Favorite” and the ERA team won the silver medal!
