What is a Multi-Tiered System of Support?
- MTSS is a school-wide framework that uses data-driven, targeted interventions to support students based on their individual academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- MTSS emphasizes the whole child by identifying needs through universal screeners and diagnostic assessments.
- MTSS begins with strong foundational instruction for all students (Tier 1).
- MTSS provides increasingly intensive support through Tiers 2 and 3.
- MTSS includes both enrichment and learning supports to address a range of student needs.
Purpose of the MTSS
Baldwinsville Central School District uses a three-tiered support system to improve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes for all students.
Levels of support:
- Tier I – Core instruction and support that all students receive.
- Tier II – Extra help for students who need additional support.
- Tier III – Intensive support for students with more significant needs.
