Parent Notification
(Per 8 NYCRR §100.2(ii)(1)(vi) – Regulations of the Commissioner of Education)
- When a student requires additional support beyond what is provided to all students in the general education setting:
- Parents/guardians will be notified in writing. (See additional resources for sample letter)
- Parents/Guardians will be notified in writing when their student is ready to exit. (See additional resources for sample letter)
- The written notification will include:
- A statement that the student is in need of intervention.
- Information about the parents’/guardians’ right to request an evaluation for:
- Special Education Programs
- Special Education Services
Professional Learning

- Effective implementation of data-based decision-making processes, such as Response to Intervention (RtI), requires:
