Laura Ryder Hennessey
Class of 1981
Laura was a standout middle distance runner in Section III. She dominated events from the indoor 300 to the 1000 and the 400 and 800 outdoors and was a major force in the 4 x 200m., 4 x 400 m. and 4 x 800 m. relays with many victories and records. She at one time held multiple school, Onondaga League and Section III records.
Todd Kasmer
Class of 1987
Todd was a three-sport athlete in baseball, football, and hockey. He earned several prestigious honors, including the James S. Pelcher Award, the Ronald E. Barnum Baseball Outstanding Athlete Award, the Gould’s Pumps Outstanding Athlete in Hockey Award, and the Outstanding Sophomore Award. He earned OHSL All-League First Team honors in baseball for both outfield and utility play. In football, he received All-League and All-Upstate honors and was named Most Outstanding Male Student-Athlete in the Onondaga County North “A” Division.
Herc Merrifield
Class of 1947
Herc excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, earning a reputation as a star in each sport. His leadership qualities shone through as he captained the 1947 baseball team, guiding them to a record-setting winning streak that remains a point of pride for the school.
Jack Montague Sr.
Class of 1950
Jack played second base on the school’s baseball team that set a record for consecutive wins. That team was part of the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame for many years. Jack also competed in basketball and football for Baldwinsville.
Jim Gonnella
Class of 1993
Jim was a three-sport varsity athlete, earning the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year, Principal’s Award for excellence in three sports, and the Class of 1953 Award for combined academic and athletic achievement. He was team captain in lacrosse, basketball, and soccer. In lacrosse, he was a two-time All-American & Academic All-American in lacrosse. In basketball, he was an All-County selection, team MVP, and was named an OHSL Exceptional Senior. On the soccer field, Jim was a three-time All-County first team pick, two-time team MVP, and was also named an OHSL Exceptional Senior.
Lori Behm-Johnstone
Class of 1995
Lori was a five-year varsity starter in basketball from 1990 to 1995, Lori became the all-time leading scorer in school history – boys or girls – with an astounding 1,484 career points. A three-time First Team All-League selection, team captain, and the 1995 All-CNY Player of the Year, her senior year was capped by a sectional championship and a regional runner-up finish.
Drew Olson
Class of 1996
Drew was a three-sport athlete who excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. On the football field, he was a two-year starter and was named the team’s Most Outstanding Player in 1996. In basketball, he earned starting roles during the 1994 and 1996 seasons. In baseball, he was named First Team All-OHSL three times, captured two league batting titles, and was honored as the Central New York Player of the Year in 1996.
Tamara Michel
Class of 2001
Tammy captained Bville’s inaugural field hockey team, had the privilege of playing for undefeated regional volleyball teams her junior and senior years, and was a member of the 1999 Runner Up and 2000 State Championship lacrosse teams.She earned All-League honors in field hockey, volleyball, and lacrosse, as well as first-team all-CNY, and honorable mention All-American in lacrosse. Tammy was named Outstanding Team Player in field hockey and volleyball.

Kathy Urschel
Class of 1982
Kath’s life was defined by resilience, positivity, and an indomitable spirit. From the age of eight, Kath faced significant challenges-her sight and hearing were impaired. At 21, she became completely blind. Her athletic journey began with tandem cycling, where she served as the stoker, relying on a sighted partner to guide her. Her dedication led her to carry the Olympic flame in 1996 and win a silver medal at the Atlanta Paralympics. She broke barriers in endurance sports, becoming the first physically challenged woman to complete the Race Across America and the only woman to finish the 3,400-mile Transcontinental Triathlon in 1998.
