Baldwinsville Central School District residents voted today, Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, to approve a $242,400,000 multi-year Funding Improvements & Building the Future capital improvement project. This important, three-phase project was approved by voters 1,217 to 424.
“Thank you to everyone who came out to support this project that will Enhance Our Hive for years to come,” said Superintendent Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri. “We appreciate your continued support of our district and we are thrilled to move forward with this exciting and transformative project.”
The project includes classroom renovations, building repairs, infrastructure improvements, routine maintenance and increased safety and security measures, including the addition of air conditioning to renovated spaces. The majority (84%) of the project costs are for replacing and renovating existing spaces.
The goal of this three-phase, multi-year plan is to enhance grade-level, building, and instructional options that provide more effective, relevant, and efficient programming for Baldwinsville students. All eight school buildings are part of this project, which will reconfigure grade levels. Under the proposed plan, elementary schools will house pre-kindergarten to third grade, and Ray Middle School will become an intermediate/upper elementary school that houses fourth to sixth grade. Seventh grade will move to the main campus and be housed at Durgee Junior High School.
“The Board of Education, district leadership and members of numerous stakeholders groups have been researching and exploring this project for more than a decade, and it’s wonderful to see the Baldwinsville community support it,” said Board of Education President Victor Jenkins.
