The Baldwinsville Varsity Winter Guard is having a fantastic season and their hard work is not going unnoticed. The Mid York Color Guard Circuit promoted Baldwinsville Varsity to the Scholastic A1 Class!

“This is a huge honor for our student performers as it rewards their hard work, teamwork and artistry,” said Coordinator Casey Vanderstouw. “This mid-season promotion also speaks to the leadership and vision of our Guard instructors and their unending commitment to our program throughout the year. We look forward to this new challenge and opportunity for our Varsity Winter Guard!”

The Bees were previously in Scholastic A2 Class. On January 25th, they took the top spot with a score of 64.52 at the Phoenix competition. On February 1st in Shenendehowa, the Bees took second place with a score of 66.060. On February 8th, they reclaimed the top spot at East-Syracuse Minoa with a score of 71.480.

“(Being promoted) is an incredible honor and a testament to the skill of all involved,” according to the Mid York Color Guard.

The Baldwinsville Varsity Winterguard is proud to present its 2025 show “Our Last Night” by Adele. The Show is inspired by the Missing DC Girls Movement. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for underprivileged children to go missing in cities where the system fails to keep them safe. This leaves only their friends and siblings to mourn their loss. Baldwinsville Varsity shows us what it's like to reminisce on the last day spent with the person you hold closest to your heart. If today was your last day with the person you love most in this world, how would you spend it?

Comments of the show from the Mid York Color Guard social media page include:

  • Baldwinsville Varsity left all their emotions on floor.”

  • “Baldwinsville Varsity got us all in the feels.”

  • “And sometimes, you almost forget what you are doing because you get lost in such a beautiful show.”

The guard is under the direction of Shannon Spalding. Staff includes Mickayla Meaker.

“The guard would like to thank staff coordinators Casey Vanderstouw and Kelly Cullen, as well as all the family members and friends that make the season enjoyable. A very special thanks to our amazing floor crew!”

The Bees will compete next on Saturday, March 1st at Cicero-North Syracuse Junior High School. They will face opponents in their new division, Liverpool, Victor and Laurens. Action starts at 1 p.m.
