Announcements for Friday, April 24, 2026

Posted Date: 04/24/26 (02:00 PM)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

This weekend marks the beginning of an exciting season of end-of-year milestones and celebrations. On Saturday evening, our junior class will gather at C.W. Baker High School for prom, a tradition that brings students together to celebrate friendships, create lasting memories, and enjoy a well-earned night of fun. We wish all of our juniors a safe and memorable evening.

Events like junior prom remind us that this time of year is about more than just finishing strong academically, it’s also about honoring the experiences, achievements and connections that make our Hive so special. From concerts and competitions to graduations and moving-up ceremonies, the weeks ahead will be filled with moments worth celebrating.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping our students make the most of these opportunities. We look forward to celebrating together in the weeks ahead.

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

2026 Best Communities for Music Education:

For the 17th consecutive year, our district has been recognized for excellence in music education, earning the 2026 Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation. This honor reflects our commitment to making the performing arts an essential part of every student’s education. Music fosters creativity, discipline and collaboration -- skills that extend far beyond the classroom. This recognition also highlights the dedication of our music educators, whose work ensures all students have access to a high-quality, enriching experience. Thank you to our outstanding music staff for all you do!

National Letter of Intent Signing Day:

We hosted a National Letter of Intent Signing Day on Thursday, celebrating senior student-athletes as they take the next step in their academic and athletic journeys. The ceremony brought together parents, coaches, family members, administrators, teachers and friends as students signed their letters of intent. The event recognized not only their athletic accomplishments, but also the dedication, perseverance and commitment they have demonstrated throughout their high school careers.

The following Baker seniors were recognized:

Bailey Pietricola – Crew, Villanova University
Riley Fitzgerald – Field Hockey, Keuka College
Lainey Nesbitt – Tennis, Catholic University
Jenna Bookman – Softball, Grove City College
Amanda Newcomb – Outdoor Track & Field, SUNY Plattsburgh
Kian Scullion – Baseball, Clark University

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Join us on Friday, May 1st for a district-wide Green Out to kick things off.  While supporting mental health is always a priority in Baldwinsville, we’ll be placing an extra spotlight on it throughout the month. Each building will be offering activities focused on staff and student wellness.  We’re also excited for our 3rd Annual Bee Well Paint-a-Thon on May 3. Today is the last day to register if you haven’t already!

Annual Budget Vote and Board Elections:

Baldwinsville Central School District residents will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 19th to vote on the proposed 2026-2027 school year budget, which maintains programs and staffing while continuing to work towards the district’s goals and mission. Voting will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and held at the District Operations Building, located on the main campus. Our budget newsletter will be arriving in the mailboxes of district residents soon.
