Socktober Returns to the Hive: Small Donations, Big Impact

As the temperatures begin to drop and fall settles into the Hive, Baldwinsville Central School District is once again turning a simple everyday item into an opportunity to make a difference.

Socktober is back!

Throughout the month of October, BCSD schools will collect new socks for men, women, children and babies. All donated socks will be given to PEACE Inc. in Baldwinsville to help provide comfort and essential items to neighbors in need.

Socktober has been a tradition in the district for several years. The effort was started by Van Buren teacher Emma Manning when she was teaching at Elden Elementary School. What began as a single-school collection has grown into a districtwide tradition, with schools across the district and community joining together to fill the Hive with generosity.

Why socks? They are one of the most requested items for people experiencing need, yet they are often overlooked.

A new pair of socks may seem like a small gift, but every donation can make a meaningful difference.
