Celebrating School Board Recognition Week: Because You Said Yes, We Can (Video)

School Board Recognition Week in New York State will be celebrated October 12–16, 2026. Each year, this week provides an opportunity to recognize the important role school board members play in supporting students, staff and schools across their communities.

In Baldwinsville, we decided to celebrate our Board of Education members in a way that puts the focus where it belongs: on our students.

We asked students from across the district to help us answer one simple question:
What can you do because our school board members said “yes” to serving on the Board of Education?

The answers are as unique as our students. From music and athletics to academics, the arts, clubs, activities and countless opportunities to learn and grow, our students have so much to say “yes” to each day.

Our Board members volunteer their time to help make those opportunities possible. They attend meetings, ask questions, study budgets and policies, listen to families and staff, and make decisions with the best interests of our students and schools in mind.

So, this School Board Recognition Week, we asked our students to say thank you in their own words.
Because you said yes, we can…

To our Board of Education members, thank you for saying yes to serving our students, our schools and our community. Your commitment helps make so many student experiences possible, and we are grateful for the time, care and leadership you give to our district.
From all of us in the Hive, thank you for saying yes.
