Baldwinsville Central School District

Build - Educate - Empower

Announcements for Friday, October 16, 2026

Posted Date: 10/16/26 (02:13 PM)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

This is one of my favorite times of the school year because we begin to see just how much progress our students are making, both inside and outside the classroom. Across our schools, students are building skills, reaching milestones and finding new ways to achieve.

Our fall athletic season is winding down, and we already have a Section III champion to celebrate! Congratulations to Mira Nadzan on capturing the Girls Tennis Singles title. On stage, the excitement is building as our first theatrical production of the year approaches. In just three weeks, the curtain will rise on our junior high musical, The Addams Family Young@Part, opening November 6th.

Our Marching Bees are also wrapping up an incredible season, with the state championship taking place at the JMA Wireless Dome on Sunday, November 1st. Meanwhile, in our classrooms, students are mastering new skills, bringing academic units to a close and completing their first major art projects of the year. It is exciting to see their growth, creativity and hard work coming to life in so many different ways.

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

Journalism Awards:

Baldwinsville student journalists from C.W. Baker High School, Durgee Junior High School and Ray Middle School earned multiple top honors at the 2026 Empire State School Press Association Conference Tuesday at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School.

From award-winning broadcasts and community features to an original podcast, students across all three schools showcased their outstanding storytelling, creativity and production skills.

Congratulations to our student journalists and the educators who support their work!

National Bullying Prevention Month:

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Wednesday, October 21st is Unity Day. Unity Day is a day to come together and remind us that we all deserve to be treated with kindness, be accepted as who we are, and feel included at all times. Everyone is encouraged to wear orange to show their support for bullying prevention.

Marching Band:

Stay 'On The Brightside' and head on over to Liverpool High School this Saturday as our Marching Bees take on Cicero-North Syracuse. Baldwinsville and C-NS are the only bands competing in the National Class at Liverpool's Silks & Sounds of Autumn Home Show. Our Bees are scheduled to take the field at 7:39 p.m. and you won't want to miss it!
