Announcements for Friday, January 9, 2026

Posted Date: 01/09/26 (02:17 PM)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

I hope everyone has settled back into their routines after our two-week break. It is a busy time in our Hive! Regents exams begin on January 20th and the second marking period for students in grades 6–12 will conclude in just two weeks. Our school musical has entered its final month of rehearsals, and I am looking forward to seeing our production of Meredith Willson's The Music Man next month. Varsity winter sports are in full swing and our Bees are breaking school records and winning big games. Our modified Winter II sports also kicked off this week. It’s a busy time, but the Hive is buzzing with excitement and we are off to a great start to 2026!

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

Senior High All-County Festival

Congratulations to the 34 student musicians selected to participate in the Onondaga County Senior High All-County Festival, taking place today and Saturday at Solvay High School. Each year, the Onondaga County Music Educators Association (OCMEA) hosts county-wide festivals for elementary, junior high and senior high students. These prestigious events bring together top musicians from across the county to perform in band, orchestra, chorus and jazz ensembles. Students work with distinguished guest conductors and are challenged with advanced repertoire and ensemble techniques. The Senior High All-County Festival includes students in grades 10–12 and represents a significant musical achievement. See the list of participants. Go Bees!

Scholar Athlete Team Awards

Congratulations to our fall 2025 varsity teams who qualified for the NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team Award. To qualify, 75% of the team’s roster must be 90% or higher. You can see the entire list of athletes by clicking HERE.

First LEGO League

Students from all five of our elementary schools, along with Ray Middle School, will take part in the First LEGO League robotics competition this Saturday at Roxboro Middle School. The competition is hosted by OCM BOCES. Our student engineers have spent weeks designing, building and coding LEGO robots that will compete alongside teams from other local elementary and middle schools. First LEGO League is an international, inquiry-based program that introduces students ages 9–14 to science, technology, problem-solving and teamwork. Now in its fifth year locally, this exciting challenge showcases creativity, collaboration and innovation. Best of luck to our student engineers. We’re incredibly proud of your dedication and hard work!
