Announcements for Friday, January 23, 2026

Posted Date: 01/23/26 (02:49 PM)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate our student artists from C.W. Baker High School and Durgee Junior High School who earned an impressive 64 awards in the 2026 Central New York Scholastic Art Awards competition. This is an extraordinary achievement that reflects the talent, dedication and creativity of our young artists.

This recognition is especially meaningful given the scale of the competition, with more than 5,000 works of art submitted this year. Sponsored by M&T Bank and hosted by Onondaga Community College, the CNY Scholastic Art Awards honor creativity, originality and technical skill, and our students rose to that challenge in an impressive way.

These accomplishments would not be possible without the exceptional guidance of our art teachers at Durgee and Baker, as well as our art educators at every level who nurture creativity, refine talents and build confidence year after year. Their dedication has a lasting impact well beyond the classroom.

Award-winning artwork will be on public display through Friday, February 27th at the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College. I encourage families to visit the exhibit to experience firsthand the remarkable work of our students. You can also view the artwork on our website.

Today marks the end of the second marking period for students in grades 6-12. Report cards will be available in the Parent Portal (SchoolTool) on Friday, January 30th.

I have a few announcements to share with you today:
